I WAKE UP TO THE sun streaming through the window and a warm body wrapped around mine. I tilt my head back to find Jack sound asleep, his arms securely banded around my waist. My lips curve into a smile when I think back to last night.

Like he promised, we had sex in the shower—twice. We were still wet when he carried me back to bed, splaying me beneath him and driving me to the edge of insanity for what felt like hours before finally letting me come. The man may be considered a force to be reckoned with in the boardroom, but I learned last night that he’s a total sex god in the bedroom.

Once we finally collapsed from exhaustion, he drew me to his side, where I fell asleep cradled in his arms—sated and content.

Thank god, my parents’ room is on the other side of the house, because it would have been mortifying if they had overheard us.

I’m still not sure what came over me, begging Jack to fuck me the way I did. When I heard him coming up the stairs, I had every intention of ignoring him and pretending that our kiss under the mistletoe never happened. But then I saw him standing in the doorway, the epitome of sex appeal even dressed down in jeans and a T-shirt. When he pulled out that mistletoe, I was a goner.

It’s like my attraction to him has been dormant all these years I’ve worked for him and my true desires are just now waking up. The more time we spend together outside of work, the stronger our connection becomes, but it’s impossible to ignore the reality that there will eventually be repercussions for our actions.

Jack stirs behind me, and my skin erupts in goosebumps as his lips graze my neck.

“Good morning, beautiful.”

“Good morning, Mr. Sinclair.” I turn over to face him. “I’m surprised you’re not up and working by now.”

“I have a very good reason to stay in bed, wouldn’t you agree?”

“Mmhmm,” I murmur. “Although I’ll admit I was surprised when I woke up in your arms. You don’t strike me as a cuddler.”

“I can only resist so long when a gorgeous woman is clinging to me like a baby koala.”

“Come again?” I say with confusion.

“Every morning since we’ve been here, I’ve woken up with you practically lying on top of me.” He chuckles softly.

“Oh my god.” I cover my face with my hands. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“Because you would have tried to get me to sleep on the floor, and that was never going to happen.” He grabs my hands, peeling them away from my face. “If last night was any indication, it should be pretty clear that I don’t mind.”

“You’re just saying that to make me feel better.”

Jack pins me with a serious look. “Trust me, Ms. Stafford. I wouldn’t have fucked you if I didn’t thoroughly enjoy being close to you.” He lightly traces my lips with his finger.
